Start location: Ausable Chasm Bridge on Rt. 9, 1.5 miles
2.4km. north of Keeseville:

This ride starts at a deep natural
cut through sandstone by the Ausable River. It
continues through rolling farmlands perched overlooking
the west coast of Lake Champlain with the Green Mountains
of Vermont in the distance. This is a challenging ride
as it enters the forested foothills of the Adirondack Coast
headed toward Willsboro. Don't be surprised if you decide
to hop off your bike for a short but peaceful walk over the
steepest sections on the Highlands Road. Eventually
you'll reach Rt. 22 to turn west and north for another
climb and finally get to the intersection of Rt. 9 and
Rt. 22 near exit 33 of I-87. In four miles you will reach the
historic and charming village of Keeseville, once a booming
industrial village that also served as a layover point for
steamship travelers vacationing in the Adirondacks.
