Start Location: Lyon Mountain American Legion: <br><br> This ride begins in the hamlet of <br>Lyon Mountain. approximately 35 miles west <br>Of Plattsburgh. Lyon Mountain is a former mining <br>community and has a long history of supplying high quality <br>iron ore to the smelting industry, including having been <br>specified as the preferred provider of ore to be used in <br>the construction of the George Washington Bridge crossing <br>the Hudson River. <br>The Route heads down the south shore Of Chateaguay <br>Lake and borders on the great northern forest of Clinton <br>County, coming into the St. Lawrence Valley and <br>crossing under modern wind turbines along and south of <br>US. Rt. 11. It ends by cutting along the base of Ellenburg <br>Mountain on the lightly traveled Bradley Pond Road. <br>
